Step Up for Ostomy is Back!
MyOstomy
Ostomy Awareness Day is approaching, and Ostomy Canada is bringing back Step Up for Ostomy for the 60th year! Step Up for Ostomy 2022 will be an in-person fundraising event (subject to change per provincial health guidelines). Step for Ostomy is an excellent way to raise awareness about ostomies and raise funds for ostomates and their families. This year Step Up for Ostomy invites you to walk, run, chill or whatever you fancy and help Ostomy Canada raise $100,000 for those living with ostomies all over Canada and MyOstomy is proud to be a gold sponsor for this amazing cause.
Did you know that there are 70,000 people with an Ostomy Canadawide? Ostomy is a lifesaving procedure which involves rerouting the path that bodily waste travels because of issues in the digestive system. Ostomies can be temporary or permanent, but they do alter how one lives their life. There are different kinds of ostomies, including colostomy, urostomy and ileostomy. Each one performed for a specific purpose. Living with an ostomy can be difficult, which is why it is important to raise awareness and education about the procedure and find ways in which we can all support ostomates and improve their quality of life.
